Ecosystem Support: The institutions and organizations are providing the much-needed support for Canadian companies to work with CAF. They include Area X.O, Council of Canadian Innovators | Conseil canadien des innovateurs (CCI), The Icebreaker, and Canadian Defence Review.

ITB Obligations: These are foreign-owned companies that have received Department of National Defence/Ministère de la défense nationale and Canadian Coast Guard/Garde côtière canadienne procurement contracts. Per the Government of Canada, ITB Policy “leverages defence and Canadian Coast Guard procurements to contribute to jobs, innovation and economic growth across the country The ITB Policy contractually requires companies awarded defence procurement contracts to undertake business activity in Canada equal to the value of the contracts they have won. The ITB Policy applies on all defence and Canadian Coast Guard procurements over $100 million that are not subject to trade agreements or for which the national security exception is invoked. Defence procurements valued between $20-100 million are reviewed for the possible application of the Policy”. These include the major primes, such as Babcock Canada Inc., and Arcfield Canada.
